From September 28thto October 5th, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) organised ashort-term learning exchange programmeto Laos, involving48 excellenteconomically disadvantagedstudents and 4 teachers. Zhang Sheping, theConsulGeneral of thePeople’sRepublic of China in Luang Prabang,Laos,cordially met with the teachers and students.
During the visit,the delegation fromKUSTengaged inprofoundlearning exchangeswith teachers and studentsfrom various educational institutions in Laos, includingthe Chinese School in Luang Prabang,the Confucius Institute at Souphanouvong University, andtheNational University of Laos. Theyvisited enterprises, such as the Enterprise of Telecommunications Lao (ETL),theLao Asia Pacific Satellite Co., Ltd. (LAOSAT),theLaos-China RailwayCo., Ltd.(LCRC),theBank of China (Hong Kong) Vientiane Branch,and others. The delegation also visitedinstitutions likethe Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Luang Prabang,the Overseas Representative Office of Yunnan Commerce in Vientiane,andYunnan Construction InvestmentHoldingGroup Co.,LtdinVientiane Center. During their stay,the delegation fromKUSTexplored the historicallandmarks in Laos and wereinvited to participate in the 2ndChinese Songs SingingCitywide Exhibitionandthe Mid-Autumn Festivalculturalevening partythemed“the sea mirrors the rising moon bright; miles apart, our hearts share tonight.”inLuang Prabang. The students from KUST showcased their talents byperformingsolo musicalinstrumentalpieces,singingsongs,andreciting,demonstratingthevigorand self-confidence ofChinese college students in the new era.
The participating studentsexpressed gratitude for the exchange programme, emphasizing how itbroadened their international horizons.Theygainedinsights intothe tremendous achievements made sinceintroducing the“Belt and Road Initiative.”Simultaneously,this visit ignited students’ patriotismand thedesire tobettertell China’s stories. It alsofueled their determination to excel in theirstudiesand contributeyouthful energytothe Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
